Magazine Cover Reveiw
This week we spent our time reviewing magazine covers and patterns throughout the feature articles. I found out a lot about the impacts the covers have on the audience, the money audience and the cultivating brand loyalty. To start, you can immediately recognize the Oprah Magazine based off the popular O that identifies her. This magazine is known for having an audience of middle-aged women because of the impact she has on them. On the cover of her magazine the title "Joy in the Mourning" pops out and this is her feature article. Between the cover page, the content page and the feature article, the orange is a common color and white fancy text is common all throughout as well.
The Cosmopolitan Magazine is another common magazine directed towards a women audience. This magazine has a popular teen celeb on the cover that looks confident and wearing light colors. The "Wear a Damn Mask" pops out on this cover page and grabs the attention towards the feature article. The light colors and are common throughout out and use the white text throughout, like the Oprah Magazine. The Vogue Magazine is on the opposite end of the intended audience. Throughout this magazine, high end luxury brands are showcased directing this magazine audience to a higher-class woman. Not to mention, Rihanna is on the cover with a very luxury looking intention. The colors of this magazine are very grey and bland, and the texts aren't very bold, everything is very light and delicate. The Rolling Stone Magazine is a magazine with more of a male audience. This magazine has a very popular rapper on the cover which catches many people's attention. The cover is very busy on this magazine and the busy theme is going on throughout to the feature article. There is also the aftermath of a riot in the background which shows that this magazine is more political and focuses more on recent issues in America.
The Conde Nast Traveler is a magazine with a target audience of men. This magazine is a travel magazine, so it is filled with pictures of places to stay and travel. The audience is for more higher class, wealthier people because the featured places are so crazy expensive. The cover is very interesting and catches your attention with trees and a rope swing. The article explains that the authors of Rolling Stone think that people don't want to read long articles anymore, people are more interested in the covers and feature articles, so companies must make their covers very interesting and eye catching. The author of this article also thinks it's important to make the reading feature in articles "bite-sized". For magazines to have an impact on buyers, they need to create covers that make people want to buy then in order to keep magazines up and popular.
