Storyboard

This past week we have been working on creating our story boards. This part was fun, but a little complicated. We had to try and produce a design that was so similar but different to match each of our topics in our magazine. I enjoyed producing the design for the cover page because we decided on an interesting font called Bakersfield Old Face and we decided to use this same font for each of our magazines but to use assorted colors to make them unique. I learned from doing this exercise how difficult but exciting it can be to design something of your own that you are interested with incorporating things to make it the best that it can. This exercise also helped by develop my concept by allowing me to be creative and explore ways to creatively make this magazine my own. Creating the story board help us truly understand what our magazine is going to look like and conversation through it helped us come up with articles or details to include in the magazine or in our feature articles. By doing this exercise, we also realized we needed to make changes from our refinement chart. We would include just a picture on the cover page instead of the collage because when we got the change to draw it own with our own hands, we realized that it would look a lot better from our level of difficulty and overall.

The article “Storyboard your way to Success” helped us when it said, “Storyboarding is flexible. It is comprehensive. And it allows a group to generate a lot of ideas. Its only major drawback is that it takes a lot of time. In contrast to brainstorming, which is best used with a narrowly defined problem, storyboarding is ideal for solving complex problems - not only for providing solutions, but also for defining different aspects of a problem.” This helped us because we knew that we had to work cohesively as a group and brainstorm what ideas would work best for us. The article “Filmmaking across the curriculum” also helped us come up with our concept when it said, “It is also a very powerful and rewarding tool for teaching and learning.” This helped us because we knew that we could also use this magazine to inform and teach people about things they didn’t already know. The only things we changed were the titles of our articles and some ideas to add to our magazine along the way.
